A few words from Maragret Paterson, community activist and Lismore primary parent.
I would like to give you some kind of insight of Lismore Primary School. We
are situated right in the heart of the community. We like to see ourselves as
a small village and our school as a very important part of the community.
The schools and local community centre has been under threat of closure since
2004 causing panic and despair.
After the initial shock Lismore Parents Action
Group was formed and along with the community we fought hard and won. However
2007 we fear they may come back again. If they take our school we will be left
with nothing. Children and families see Lismore as a way of life, not just a
school. We are a deprived area and Lismore Primary School meets our children's
needs. Why should we travel when we have our own school?
We may be a small school, but we are very much needed.
We have people from all walks of life prepared
to give us their valuable time without pay to support our school. For this we
would like to thank them and ask parents to please hang in there, don't give
up as we need our school. Your comments along with any advice are welcome.
Please take some time to look round the website and learn something of our vibrant community.
Thank you, Maggie.
